A Week That Opens in Quebec City and Ends With Two World Title Fights in Chicago
Every world title in the fight week has a pool fighter attached to it. On Thursday night in Quebec City, Osleys Iglesias defends the IBF super middleweight title against Oliver Zaren. Two nights later in Chicago, Floyd Schofield and Lucas Bahdi fight for the vacant WBA lightweight title, and Ricardo Sandoval makes the first defence of his WBC and WBA flyweight belts against Sergio Mendoza. Both shows stream on DAZN, and three drafted fighters between them put Belt value on the line.
Floyd Schofield vs Lucas Bahdi: Two Unbeaten Punchers, One Vacant WBA Belt and a Long Layoff
Schofield is 19-0 with 13 knockouts and has not boxed since June 2025, when he flattened former world titleholder Tevin Farmer in the first round. He pulled out of a Shakur Stevenson fight in February 2025 after being hospitalised with an illness, and the layoff since has been long. His last decision win, over Rene Tellez Giron, included a knockdown against him in round 11.
Bahdi is 20-0 with 15 knockouts. He earned this spot by dropping former titleholder Roger Gutierrez in the sixth round of a decision win in August 2025. His reputation rests on the 2024 knockout of previously unbeaten Ashton Sylve, which collected several Knockout of the Year awards, and he has stayed far busier than Schofield.
The WBA belt is vacant because Gervonta Davis was placed in recess after the Lamont Roach draw in March 2025, amid inactivity and legal problems. The pair are 39-0 combined, so one of them leaves Wintrust Arena with a first loss, on a Golden Boy and MVP show. Two unbeaten punchers fighting for a lightweight title give the bout real Fight of the Year potential, and the Schofield vs Bahdi fight page has the date, the titles and the fan picks.
Ricardo Sandoval vs Sergio Mendoza: A Late Replacement Walks Into the First Defence of Two Flyweight Belts
Sandoval is 27-2 with 18 knockouts and holds the unified WBA and WBC flyweight titles. He took both from Kenshiro Teraji by split decision in Yokohama in July 2025, and his two career losses are majority decisions to Alonso Ceja in 2016 and David Jimenez in 2022.
Mendoza steps in at 27-1 with 23 knockouts after Oscar Collazo withdrew injured, and the bout is his United States debut. The Mexican's only loss came in April, a second-round stoppage against IBF 108-pound titleholder Thanongsak Simsri. Sandoval had prepared for the shorter Collazo and now faces a different physical shape on changed preparation.
Mendoza's knockout ratio sits well above the titleholder's, and the Simsri result is the most recent evidence on his chin. Both belts stay with Sandoval if he wins, and the Sandoval vs Mendoza fight page carries the details. A late replacement keeps the bout a solid co-feature on the Chicago show.
Osleys Iglesias vs Oliver Zaren: Two Southpaws, a Finishing Streak and an IBF Title in Quebec City
Iglesias is 15-0 with 14 stoppages, and the Cuban southpaw has finished his last eight opponents. He won the vacant IBF super middleweight title in April when Pavel Silyagin's corner pulled him out after eight rounds, adding it to his IBO belt. Before that he beat Vladimir Shishkin in a title eliminator to become the IBF mandatory.
Zaren arrives 19-0-1 and ranked fifth by the IBF, a Danish southpaw trained by Mikkel Kessler. Only eight of his wins came inside the distance, and his last outing was a draw with Jose Luis Navarro Jr. in June for the vacant European title. Before that came an IBF Inter-Continental win over Ante Bilic and a knockout of David Benitez.
Two southpaws means the lead hand and the angle of the feet decide who lands first. Iglesias carries the heavier punch and a finishing record Zaren has not come near. The Dane has five more fights of experience, and the draw shows he has been taken into deep water. The Iglesias vs Zaren fight page lists the title and the date, and the Quebec City show carries nine titles in all.
The Bigger Picture
The WBA lightweight belt has been vacant since Davis went into recess, and the winner in Chicago fills it with an unbeaten record intact. At flyweight, Collazo's injury turned a planned defence into a test against an unfamiliar puncher on short notice. At super middleweight, Iglesias is four months into his reign and meets a ranked challenger with the experience to make it uncomfortable. The schedule gets heavier on 17 October, when Daniel Dubois defends the WBO heavyweight title against Fabio Wardley in London and Sebastian Fundora defends the WBC junior middleweight title in Las Vegas.
What It Means for Your Stable
Belt value is live three times over. Iglesias and Sandoval both defend world titles they already hold, and Schofield earns Belt value only if he wins the vacant WBA belt. Schofield's bout is rated four stars and the other two three stars each, so Star value leans to Chicago. No two pool fighters meet, so no head-to-head is available, and the win and the knockout carry the rest. Iglesias has finished fourteen of fifteen opponents and Mendoza has twenty-three knockouts, so a stoppage is live in all three bouts.
Promoter League: Iglesias Locks Thursday Morning in Sydney and Schofield Is the Cheapest Way Into a Vacant Belt
In the Promoter League, Iglesias is priced at $8.5M in the Contender tier after Tuesday's reprice lifted him from $4.5M. He locks at midnight UTC on Thursday, which is 11am Thursday in Sydney and 8pm Wednesday in Quebec City, well before the opening bell.
Schofield is priced at $2.5M in the Flier tier and locks at midnight UTC on Saturday, which is 11am Saturday in Sydney and 7pm Friday in Chicago. A win over Bahdi would put a world title result against a $2.5M price, and Tuesday's reprice on 13 October is where both results land on the price list.
Verdict
Schofield and Bahdi are a rare pairing of unbeaten punchers, one carrying sixteen months of rust and the other the busier recent form. Sandoval has to adjust to a different shape on short notice against a man with the better knockout ratio. Iglesias brings the heavier punch to Quebec City against an experienced and unbeaten Dane. Three world belts, three drafted fighters and two cities make for a week that decides more than it looks, and the heavier fights begin on 17 October.
