The August 22 Aftermath: Teofimo Lopez Takes the WBA Welterweight Title and a Third Division on a Majority Card, Amanda Serrano's Record Waits Another Night, and Yoenli Hernandez Finally Hears a Final Bell

Three scored fights, thirty-four rounds, and not one of them ended early. Teofimo Lopez outboxed Rolando Romero on a majority decision in Las Vegas to take the WBA welterweight title in his first fight at 147 and become a three-division world champion, moving a belt from one drafted stable to another. Amanda Serrano collected her 50th win in Temecula and left the knockout record exactly where Christy Martin set it. And Yoenli Hernandez, who had stopped nine of his first ten opponents, went ten rounds for the first time and never got close to a finish.

August 22 Fight Preview: Rolando Romero Defends the WBA Welterweight Title Against Teofimo Lopez in Las Vegas as Amanda Serrano Boxes on TikTok for the Knockout Record

Rolando Romero has carried the WBA welterweight belt for fifteen months without defending it and finally does on Saturday against a Teofimo Lopez who was swept aside by Shakur Stevenson in January, which turns the main event into a head-to-head in every league that drafted both. Friday in Temecula, Amanda Serrano puts the Ring, WBA and WBO featherweight titles up live on TikTok needing one stoppage to own the women's knockout record outright. Yoenli Hernandez boxes ten rounds in Las Vegas with a middleweight title shot on the other side.

The August 15 Aftermath: Claressa Shields Takes the WBC and WBA Middleweight Titles in Six, Teremoana Needs Two Rounds on the Gold Coast, and the Fifth Fight on the Board Never Happens

Two shows, four days apart, five fights on the board — four of them resolved and one erased at the scales. Claressa Shields came down three divisions and stopped Kaye Scott in the sixth for the WBC and WBA middleweight titles, her first finish in two years. Teremoana Teremoana went twelve for twelve inside two rounds. Michael Zerafa bought eight rounds he badly needed on his Matchroom debut. And Ernesto Mercado never got in the ring at all, after two opponents missed weight in the same afternoon.
